Now there's an idea, Hitchcock's crackers with small items like clutch strengtheners, TDC finders, Iridum plugs etc. as gifts.

Good idea!
Not altogether sure they would go down well at our domestic Yuletide table though.

I like the word "Perch" it is a lot easier to type than "the lever which bolts onto the handelbar that the clutch lever is mounted on" and it always confuses people into thinking you know something they don't. If you google clutch levers very quickly you will see you can also buy clutch perches as well

Bertie,
Can't be anymore simple than google "clutch perch" and you will have the answer, then once you know what it is you grind the face of the affore mentioned "Perch" where the face of the lever comes up against that perch thing again so that the lever moves further away from the handelbar thus giving you more cable travel. Cable travel can also be increased by fitting a lever without the step in it.

Hi all, Just been out for a couple of hours and am pleased to report that the mod has worked a treat, i honestly do not think I need to play with the clutch perch after all, when I first started out the clutch made some nasty creaking noises when pulled, i think it was just travelling along its splines further than its ever been before, this stopped after a minute or so. after that the gear change was as good as its ever gonna get, I could sit in traffic without the clutch drag killing the engine and I even managed to find neutral a few times...A success....Jut enjoy the ride.
