Due to circumstances my riding is finished for a while...The bikes are as I left them last month and they will stay that way.......The carbs are always run dry after every ride so I can leave things as is......never had a problem in the past & don't anticipate any now....Why I have always done this is simple - there are some surprisingly fine winter days that just cannot be wasted

Hi Guys---------- ANDERS, I don't have any probs. with silicone spray at all... I use UNIPART GEM 315 which is particularly good at keeping moisture away on HT plugs and leads,Distributor cap, LT wiring and switchgear....With regards to paintwork, if normal preparations are in use ie flatting-back with say a 200-grit open faced paper and a de-grease wash prior to applying the paint then you shouldn't have any problems.... Agreed, paint won't stick to it---- of course not, it's a grease after all.... but it is soluble in petrol........ It's also very good at lubricating your double glazing window slides and linkage, door hinges etc..... As mentioned I used to spray any bright-work/chrome plating but these days most items tend to be "staybright" chrome on a plastic body (Indicators, for example)....Has worked ok for me down the years, but each to their own, eh ??

And if the comments aint enough... squirt some WD40 down the plug hole, give it a few kicks, then leave it alone (well the engine)

WD 40 is a bit thin and runs off, better to use engine oil.

---------- on the other hand, why lay it up at all ?? Use it if you can and warm wash/hose down any salt etc..

I was going to mention about using WD40 when Denis C beat me to it WD is really only a penetrating lubricant it is a very light lubricator but will soon evaporate and dry and will even cause rust far better to use a lubricating oil such as 3 in one
