---------- must be a Typo !! ---- try 80 KPH ?? ie approx 50 mph.--------- or it's the usual "optimistic" Enfield speedo again ?? ----- ( The Nitrous is in the advert itself, maybe ?? )

Was there someone here who spent mega £s to get with a 350 bullet to do 80 mph?

It's a bit like one out here recently where a bloke bought a Bullet and Cosy sidecar, was told it would cruise at 100kph all day, flew from Perth to Sydney to pick it up 3/4000ks with the plan to ride it back to Perth with his wife in the chair. Needless to say he only got 150ks into the trip before the motor spat it

My 500 classic with all the sensible mods, better sprocket ratios and an Amal carb can touch 80mph indicated on the original speedo with the needle flying around all over the place... So in short I'm pretty sure it's not actually doing 80mph. So you guys are right, a 23year old 350 is going to be more like 80kph.

Around 80mph is I think in the terms of the law mere puffery. However I have to say my 350 wil do and has done on a number of occasions 70 mph and would go quicker if I had the cods. The 350 isn't a lot slower than the 500 and is reputed to be a better balanced motor. In original fettle the low compression and the restricted breathing mean that 60 mph or 100 kmph is a comfortable maximum cruising speed the lightest tweaks will give substantial performance improvements.

Possibly 80 mph is optimistic, but remember one thing, these enfields have just got fatter, heavier and slower over the years (or is it just me?) and the motors have become ever more restricted. Certainly my older oilfields - 1970's 350 and 1990 500 - were far quicker than the slug of a 2007 500 I've recently sold on. Perhaps its money thats the issue here, because given the age surely its a 400 squid machine. And at that price I'd go for it.

I run an '89 350. It's difficult to know how fast it is at the moment, because here on Guernsey the top limit is 35. I am quite curious, because in its current state it is running better than I have ever known it.
In London, I used it on dual carriageways and I think it would do about 65, but be much more comfortable at 60. Speedo read 65, but 60 would seem to agree with the other traffic on the road. That's with a sporty exhaust, a conical filter or bellmouth and a suitably jetted carb. But no tuned head, raised compression, hot cams or extra tooth on the sprocket. Extra tooth might have given another 5mph.
This bike on Ebay has a Goldie silencer, which is a good mod if he has the right jetting. It seems to have a "tea caddy" filter, still standard in '89, which is probably better than later arrangements.
My guess would be that 80kph would be selling it short, but 80mph? No way!

I would be interested to know just what can be wrung out of a 350 with all the practical performance mods.
