Yes, I should have looked at the correct way to post on this site.
Weirdly, the Enfield rear end also posted on my Facebook.
No harm done, if people want to look at my boring family snaps I don't care, but it shows you have to be careful!

Peter 53 that bike is a very beautiful thing. Thanks for the advice, reassured to hear its a common thing and not solely the symptoms of idiocy. Miller came today, going to have a go with the fitting now, I just have a bit of a blind spot for wiring which makes this more intimidating than it should be. Cheers

Alan - since that photo was taken the bike is indeed slowly disappearing... just yesterday I cut 10 1/2" of the front mudguard (was from the original front end and didn't sit well on that new 4" tyre). It's a better look! When I can afford it, I WILL hardtail this bike, which means losing the toolboxes, etc. That was my big plan when I got the bike but cash has been less-than-available, and a sudden £600 vet bill certainly don't help...

Cheers Nordicgloom... where are you based?

In the West Country, near to Bath. I geard there is an Enfield Club round here but they must be like the French Resistance or something. What size tyres do you have on your bobber? They look great.

I have been to the Porter Butt in Bath a few times - good pub. An old mate of mine lived in a place called Chilcompton as I remember - it was always foggy there! I have 4" universal Ensign tyres on both ends of this bike, don't ask me about the handling during the first 300 or so miles...

Guys,
No wish to hi-jack this thread so please start another if you wish to carry on but (as I've said before) increasing preload on shocks does not make your springs harder - it just increases your ride hieght. Handy for not letting your wheel bang into your mudguard if you've reduced clearance.

Fitted the Miller light, it looks great and was a cinch to fit, wiring fears were un founded as it earths through casing, for any future help it might be it was just green wire to top terminal and grey to bottom. Peter 53 you very much read my mind regarding the handling, they must be worth it though. The porter is a cool bar and I am intrigued by the Greenwich Cuckoo style village of perpetual fog. Duly noted PaulK!

At the risk of being disloyal, I would also point out that you can get Miller-style stop lamps in an LED version. They cost more, though.
