Hi guys---GERRY M------The advantages are}---- a)It'll keep that "original" look that many crave for these days--- b)there will be more parts to go wrong ie more for you to "tinker" with,----c) Mr.H can sell you more parts than is really needed, d)The bike's performance will be at a minimum, thus saving you fuel (and a possible speeding fine !!),---- e)The silencer is SO effective that your neighbours will vote you "Considerate Biker" of the year !!!,----- f)Tyre life will be greatly extended,-----g)You won't need to inform the Insurance Co. of any performance "upgrades"----- h)Other Bullet owners will regard you with Shock & Awe,----i)You can spend more time in the saddle and NOT tinkering without cause----- j)You won't be wasting more riding time by posting on here for self-induced faults ---k)You can have impromptu drag-races with Peddle & Pop mopeds,---l)The engine will seem so much smoother----m)It'll keep that high re-sale value for you------ How's that for starters ??-------------I AM JOKING !!!..... but you knew that, didn't you ??????

Hi Gerry. No advantage if you live in the uk, Not required for mot...

Only fitted to comply with european emmissions legislation for normal carburated motors.

Whole thing was junked when they moved on to fuel injection..

However if in the states take advice re california etc. gwilly

All the advantages are in getting rid of the PAV system - not keeping it. Riggers.

--------actually GWILLI has a valid point there re}--- The American market.... I also run a 1999 SUZUKI 800cc MARAUDER, as does a friend of mine...I have a similar version of the PAV system fitted as it's an Ex-Canadian machine, whilst his European regs. one only has the casting stubs on the heads, etc. but no system fitted.....As it's quite a lot more complex than the Bullet it CAN stay on in this case...I believe that it's down to different State legislation within an overarching Federal guideline in the USA ?? Anybody over the "pond" tell us your legalities on this ????

Presumably if you retain the PAV, your bike will cause less pollution than if you remove it. I'm not being preachy, I would remove it if I had it, but I think that's the real answer.

Just something to go wrong, ditch it.

Hi guys------------ actually JOHN R the amount of pollution remains the same !! It was a mechanical "scam" to fool the MoT exhaust sensor by diluting the exhaust gasses AFTER they had left the cylinder head and before they came out of the end of the silencer.....as the sensor probe would only go approx. 1 ft maybe into the opening of the system..............However, since that part of the MoT test was subsequently scrapped then the PAV system became superfluous as well...With the electronic fuel injection now in use a simple re-mapping of the fuel programme etc. can maintain a better control of emissions.

Thanks Alan. Yeah ditch it then. No MOT at all where I live anyway!
