Has anyone installed a stronger spring? I’ve made sure that the cable doesn’t make contact with the tank and as mentioned before I polished the inside of the carburetor where the slide moves up and down and installed a new cable. I even routed the cable differently. It’s the original Mikuni carburetor.

Thanks,

Flange of the carb if not true will twist the slide section , you polish and make it cool in your hands , bolt up a bowed flange face and the throttle jams in it's twisted bore .

If it's a Mikuni then it's not the original - the Mikarb is a Mikuni copy and not quite as well made. Anyway, neither fits with a flange like an Amal so it's not an overtight flange that's causing the problem.

Hi Terry, I agree with Pete, if you have a genuine mikuni fitted then someone else has been doing mods before your ownership....
Check that parts fitted are also genuine mikuni, (will be stamped). If your happy with the free movement of cable and slide moves freely then look for other causes.... Is it the correct spring? if PO has tried bigger spring it may become coil bound under full compression with vibration and lock up on full throttle.......... Check the needle isnt slightly bent near the tip and that the correct main jet and needle are installed..... where the slide rests on the tickover screw ensure no flanging of the alloy slide at this point. Should clunk when throttle released but its this repeated hammering can form a ridge in the alloy. Hard chromed are better wearing long term. Interesting though, keep us informed. cheers gwilly.
