Before the tax expired on wednesady i got to take my EFI out for a final blast before the winter lay off and was very pleasantly surprised at how long legged it is on the motorway and A roads compared to my Electra.It will still potter along country lanes as well so as long as the sprag stands up i shall be well pleased that i made the change.Also changing the oil was a 5 minute job not several hours with the various draining that had to be done on the Electra.

Geeze Martin, you have only had the bike a few weeks and the tax runs out? If it makes you feel better I have only heard of one sprag issue out here and that bike has a lot of issues because it was caught in a flood.

Yes it was only taxed until the end of October and given our awful winters i didn't think it worth taxing again until next March.i don't know what system you have over there but as you probably know we also pay through the nose on fuel duty here as well as road tax and value added tax.

I shall use my 400/4 or RS 250 Hondas if the weather permits.I'll try to keep my EFI out the floods then but the way our weather's been this year that could be easier siad than done!

Here in Guernsey; no MOT, road tax paid via a levy on fuel (but fuel is still cheaper than on the Mainlad). You display an insurance "disc". Insurance is cheaper because top speed limit is 35 (25 in town, 15 on "Ruettes Tranquils"). Also, someone nicks your car or bike, they don't get far. Customary to leave keys in the ignition.
Plenty of bikers; ride 50cc at 14 yrs old, so most people get an early start.
L-Plates on any capacity - I did a double take when I first saw L plates on a 1200 Harley!
Then again, no dual carriageways let alone motorways.

John-don't they have a hillclimb in your neck of the woods where you can let it rip!

Yes indeedy! The Val des Terres is a steep, winding hill used for a hillclimb several times a year - but its a pubic road and gives the Bullet a brilliant workout.

There is a classic bike class in the competition. I wonder if I would be able to enter the 612 Fury I am going to build in my dreams?

Thought so.Didn't realise it was a public road.Brilliant.I regularly attend my local hillclimb at Shelsley Walsh although only as a spectator unforunately.Regrettably it's a closed private road but i have a local lane which sometimes doubles as my hillclimb!
