Does anyone know if it's possible to get the gaiters over the bottom of the forks with the wheel and guard stays removed or do you have to dismantle the forks? Maybe soften the gaiters up in hot water to help them on?

Thanks again Alan. I have a 500 silencer that is shorter and will look and work just fine. This project is all about keeping it cheap and simple, working with what I've got. I'm looking forward to sharing pictures once it's done!
