Hello Norm,

The method for ES engines you mention ......

" The other way to help save the sprag is to open the decomp, spin the motor and then close the decomp so that the flywheels have some momentum to prevent it kicking back on starting "

.... is a great technique, coupling this with using the decompressor to stop the engine is advice I’m most grateful for (:

please keep your constructive contributions coming most welcomed !

Hi guys ---------- I've made my feelings about RE's so-called Sprag Clutch known in the past..Instead would just ask you to have a look at this}-------- http://www.renold.com/Products/SpragClu ... Clutch.asp ---------------------- At the Stafford show I asked the RE salesman just two questions}...1) How long is the warrenty on these new bikes AND...2)What has RE done to rectify the APPALLING sprag Clutch situation ??...ANSWER = }---2 years (1st is parts and labour,2nd is labour only)-------- apparently the latest sprags revolve all the time.....I pointed out that my 1975 Honda GL100 Goldwing was on 60,000 miles and its' original starter/sprag items, he responded that these RE bikes only cost £4000 approx. I did use the phrase }---"That's as maybe, but these are modern-produced bikes sold into a modern customer-base using the "Old Look" as a promotional gimmick. We don't expect to encounter "Old attitudes" from RE in quality and customer-care."......It's not his fault so I left it at that... I see that RE's are sold in over 20 countries world-wide. Let's hope the message gets through ????

Alan, they are quoting the warranty details on a completely new engine and sprag design so it has no relevance to the old cast engine sprag design. No way known would they have given a warranty like that on the old dseign, some didn't make it out of the showroom without failing
