ordered the sealed bearing kit to try to reduce leakage. never been in the gearbox. any words of wisdom would be appreciated. planning to replace clutch at the same time. also considering dropping the primary gear fron 16 to 14, as I only ride around town and always seem to be winding out 3rd or lugging 4th.

Fairly straight forward, left hand thread on the gearbox mainshaft under the bearing cap inside the right hand cover, take your time and once you have the gear cluster removed, clean the box and gears of that awfull grease, heat around the bearings in the housing with a propane torch before removing and refitting. Refitting the gear cluster can be a bit of a pain but it will go back in
