Just had my first decent ride out on my 53 Bullet and as soon as I stopped the Carb/Fuel Pump was leaking alot of fuel, as you can imagine this was extremely worrying!!! I had i tinker about with the bolt under the fuel pump and this seems to have stopped it. Can anyone please tell me the torque setting for this nut& bolt to stop this happening again or another cause of this problem.

There is no fuel pump on an old carbureted motorcycle so I assume you mean the fuel bowl. If its leaking out the top its either the float sticking or something caught in the needle valve. Whatever pulling the top off it and cleaning it out should either sort it or show you what isn't right. The lid (if its the appropriate Amal 276 will unscrew and you should be able to see the float and the top of the needle. If on the other hand its leaking out the bottom its a dodgy connection to the fuel line. This should be tight enough not to leak but is a brass nut so don't over tighten it. Good luck and let us know how you get on. I just sold a 51 Bullet that did the same thing to the new owner after he took it on a long journey strapped to the back of a ute. Sorted now though I hear.

Simon - Thank you very much for the reply! and apologies for the lack of knowledge (this my first bike so still trying to get used to it) After speaking to a classic bike guy at work it turned out to be the big nut at the bottom of the Carb that had come loose i have know tightened this up and all seems to be good! Fingers crossed...................
