To Alan R..... Yup, my proudest possessions 'back then' were a three-car Blue Pullman set and Stephensons Rocket with three carriages, indeed happy daze! Those models are now so rare they go for a fortune on -Bay. Wish I still had them 
Probably could sell them for enough to finance my Bullet Supercharging project! (see- I managed to get it back "on topic" LOL)

--------as it was our host who started this thread AND gave it the title ( "A bit of fun") then I maintain that's JUST WHAT we are doing----having a bit of fun !!--------------Checking the prices comes under that heading also---just... But for sheer BELLY LAUGHS then the VAT rate takes the biscuit, don't you think ??---------How anyone stays in business at 20% I don't know.?????? I would genuinely like to buy the 5-speed gearbox and could just about afford it ----- but to then to pay another £100 just for tax----FORGET IT !!!

The Vodka And Tonic rate is taking more than the biscuit. I'm amazed anyone sells anything legit. anymore. £1000 VAT +10% tax on a new bike or car and then 60% tax on the petrol to run it! Cameron and his sidekick Gideon Osborne have created one serious Eton Mess! Then they complain when one insists on a (20%)discount for cash!
As for proudest possessions, a decent HornbyDublo "Barnstaple" will fetch a couple of ton on fleabay and I sold mine for a score 40 years ago. Gutted!
