I have asked this before but I have never managed to get a satisfactory answer.
I want to paint my Indian Westerner tank "Chinese Red"
No one can tell me what Chinese Red is. I have been told it is Dupont Flame Red 8554.
I cannot get this in Britain, it is an American colour.
Does any one have a Royal Enfield component in Chinese Red?
This colour was used in the 1960 Fury and several "Indian" models.

If I can get a component in the correct Red then I can get the colour analysed and then have the colour reproduced.

Can anyone help?

Hi Rolf, new on here with a recently bought 2003 export model reg 2008 model 535cc lightning custom also part RED,
I ask about any touch up paint colour and was told it looks like Royal mail/pillar box red.
Probably useless information to you and me as well.If you need a pic of the bike let me know.

Rolf you really should try RS Motorbike paints at www.rsbikepaints.com. If they cannot help then try Faircharm in Leicester their details are on www.faircharm.co.uk. If you are then unable to find an accurate match then pick a colour that you believe is closest and use that. Remember that most "colour experts" really cannot tell the correct colour when you poke them in the eye with it. I have a totally original BSA A65, with its original paintwork, and a number of so called "experts" have told me that it is the wrong colour!!!! Get some paint on it and get it on the road and ride the thing.

Rolf have you contacted our hosts? There's a restored Indian Chief in the 'Used Parts & Bikes'. I don't know if they restored it but they may know the person who did.

Rolf, RS Paints list a 500 Bullet in 1960 as being Polychromatic Burgundy. Their web site doesn't list the "Westerner", whatever that is, or the Fury. However you can email them from the site, or telphone them and they will undoubtedly sort things for you. HTH.
