OK, I know some us you don your army trench coat, gauntlets and say 'Carry on chaps!' But for the rest who use the winter time to carry out more involved maintenance I was wondering what you have planned? - I will be taking the head off again to try to get to the bottom of my inlet valve problem which I can't get to seat properly. When my piston parted company earlier in the year it bent the valves. New valves sorted the outlet, but not the inlet, I 'think' maybe the bronze guide got bent as well although it looks OK visually. It starts and runs fine, but I'm niggled that compression isn't right and I can hear it hissing through the carburettor when I turn it over slowly. - I'm also looking forward to Mr H's new catalogue and what goodies will be available next year!

I shall be continuing with the Ebay 1955 350 Project as currently featuring in The Royal Enfield Magazine. The next episode out in December concentrates on the front end so I'd better start on the blunt end! There will also be a programme of small jobs on the 1966 Interceptor which is due it's first service as well. And then there's the Bighead Special project which has stalled recently...

I might just do some jobs on the Flash & a Box that I have been planning to do for a few winters past....Won't do it in spring summer or autumn on account it still rattles on regardless. I have a replacement head that I should have fettled up ready to do a swap, I have a newly rebored block ready to do a swap. ...Just never seem to have the time or at times the inclination....and being a sound believer in if it it ain't broke .............etc.......The Bullet is fine so "if it ain't broke etc" applies........I do however have great admiration for the chaps (& chapesses) who can and do enjoy bringing a load of scrap back to life:)

I'll be doing my gearbox strip and re-build, apart from that not too much else needs doing really. So that will leave the long winter evenings during which I shall........... well I'd better plead the 5th amendment on that one LOL.

My Electra XS is running really well but these are the winter jobs that I want to do;
Fitb braided stainless brake and fuel lines.
Replace rear footpegs.
Replace handlebar grips with more classic type.
Fit Dunlop TT100 tyres.
Source and fit clear indicator lenses. Plus our hosts 23w bulb upgrade kit.
Replace BSF cycle thread nuts with stainless versions.
Repack baffle with new fibre wool.
Replace plastic Speedo drive with our hosts metal one.
Consider changing side panel graphics.
That should keep me busy enough then!!!

----just trying to recognise that face in the shaving mirror each morning is hard enough !!! Avoiding as many "Domestic Duties" as possible will take up much of my quality time I suspect--------- No1. Bullet is gradually being re-painted and re-built to simulate a 1950's Army despatch riders' bike but in Desert Sand livery, so a lot of orbital sanding and undercoating....The tank will go for a full strip to bare metal---lined against E10 and sprayed. No2 Bullet has had new tyres onto "new" wheels, ie the ones that our hosts supply, then balanced etc. Both bikes have had front brake mods. done.
