I rather suspect this has been asked before but I am unable to track it down in the archives so- Can the headlights be run from the battery on a 2003 sixty 5? ...The main beam is slow to produce full light and switching between dipped on a country road at 50 mph provides momentary blackness as the system switches from one to the other....Other than that the beam intensity is fine....Many thanks...Phil

Phil,
I tried explaining this to Alan a few days ago but I think I freaked him out. I need you to check a couple of things. Firstly does it have a 4 wire alternator. Secondly unplug the A/C regulator under the seat. Then disconect the yellow wire to the alternator and then put 12 volts (temp wire) into this wire going into the loom, not to the alternator. I think then you should have power to the headlight. If so come back and ask where to go from there.

------Hey ! NORM !!-----------Now you've done it , matey... Both PHIL & I are BERKSHIRE LADS !!..There's only one thing that freaks US out and that's >>>>>>>>>> but then that would be telling, wouldn't it-- eh ?? LoL !!!!PHIL--- your Bullet 65 is the same as a Classic 500 with the additional wiring & "Chunky" battery for the electric start. ...I tell you one thing---I'm going to get this re-wiring done ASAP----it's bloody embarrassing asking my two mates, who ride genuine 1960's BSA B40 WD 350 bikes, to go in front at night just so I can see to get my "young" bike home !! Anyway, thanks to you NORM--and LES H for those notes recently----PHIL, have another look at "Bullet Wiring" dated 14th September.

Hi Alan,
I have a 2004 Bike here and it has no front on it but we are going to put it back together on Sat but as it is a 612 cafe racer we have removed everything that wasn't absolutely needed including half the wiring loom. Because we are using a small gel type battery tucked up inside the seat I have had to retain the A/C headlight so once I get the wiring and headlight refitted I hopefully should be able to test this yellow wire to see if it holds the key to the conversion. Problem is around here I don't know anybody with a later model Bullet anymore, there used to be a few, but they have all disappeared and now the ones here are older ones.

Norm, It does have a 4 wire alternator. I shall save to my computer your comments and the ones you provided for AlanR and have a look at it next week. The feed wire from the battery through the fuse does not look heavy enough to me so I will change that just in case I fry it....Thanks ..
