I've just bought a new EFI Classic Bullet in July. It had 300 mile service on 08/08. It's done 840 miles, last week on return journey of 150 mile round trip several times there was a brief slowing of engine- a kind of lag in power. This happened in several gears and when I took it for a brief run next day. Has anyone got ideas where to start to look for problem? Ordered workshop manual today.

DD, don't start looking for anything! This is a brand new bike with two years warranty. Get it back to your supplying dealer and ensure that they understand exactly what the issue is. Even get them to test ride it whilst you are there so they can agree with what you are describing.
If you want any other advice I'd recommend contacting Watsonian Squire and asking if they recognise this as a particular issue.
Either way my recommendation is not to touch a machine under warranty!

As STU said take it back to the dealers as they have the diagnostic equipment to test the ECU and other sensor settings & things its new get them to check it properly.

This is symptomatic of an engine overheating which could end up with a holed piston or worse. Get it back to the dealer ASAP.

As Riggers says, it could be a partial seizure due to over heating.

Bought my B5 in December 2011, it was very cold in Switzerland. no problem starting, but shortly after getting on to the road the engine would loose power, but eventually pick up and then run fine. Dealer changed the ECU but same result. solution was to follow the manual and allow it to tick over for a few minutes. This fixed that problem. With spring weather the need for warming up disappeared. During the first 1,000km I regularly rode at 80 to 85 km/h. No sign of nipping up. As all have said before this calls for dealer investigation. As the sum of our joint experience of EFI is very small, we would be very interested to hear what the dealer finds. Cheers TrevorCH

DD, treat it like your wifes washing machine. Back to the dealer for a warranty claim solution. Hard earned money after all.
