Hi,

I have just taken delivery of a 2002 Bullett 500ES and it has no manual with it.

I have been trying to fathom out which way the Choke works on this bike. It the lever up to apply the choke and down to be clear ( normal start) or Vs versa.

If anyone can advise would appreciate it. Thanks

Lever down: Choke on. Lever up: Choke off. I'll say this before anyone else says it; Yes, I know it's an enrichening device and it doesn't actually 'choke' anything, but it's got Choke written on the lever, so "Ya-boo-sucks" to you.

On the stock Vm28 carb, plunger raised=choke on, plunger lowered=choke off.

so if it has a tang connected to the plunger with a pivot point, tang down=choke on tangup=choke off, hope that makes sense

Hi ginger. It's not a choke where the air intake is restricted but an enricher which allows extra fuel through. It's either on or off. On (for starting when cold) is when the lever is pushed down and the plunger rises. Both my bikes don't require any enricher to start even when it's cold. All bikes are different though.

The above is correct unless someone has fitted the (much neater) 350 "choke" system which doesn't have the lever and you pull the plunger up directly for "choke".
