No question Norm, there was some evidence that the seats had moved which is why I replaced them both. Sadly though the clatter remains. It's a very distinctive noise though like someone striking a small hammer against the case in a non rhymical fashion so I believe yours could be the same thing Mark1 it's just that it may have reached the next stage so please let me know if you do come up with a diagnosis.

Hi guys----------just by way of getting a different perspective on your rattle, have someone else to ride YOUR bike past YOU a few times (after it's up to temp, of course) whilst you "register" the general sounds within your mind. If you still hear that rattle from the roadside then yes, you probably do have a problem to investigate further. My 500 had Samrats fitted by a previous owner, I think---------(were they standard fitment on an Indian Home Market bike I wonder ??).... I have obtained some original steel units to try-out during Winter maintenance----Blimey, nearly hear already !!... I'm told that the Samrat rocker-arm itself has different radius ends to the steel ones and that's what gives the rattle when hot.
