A week or so I finally got round to replacing the defective front brake light switch.... It was a bit like me - worked when it felt like it..... New part arrived from Hitchcock and then sat on the shelf for several days until I got round to doing a swap. At last yesterday afternoon I set to and did the job and beggar me the new part was as defectives as the original :(......Made a call & explained my predicament and by breakfast time this morning another package was in the letter box........That is what I call service, thank you.

I've found our hosts service to be excellent. When I was rebuilding my cylinder head after a main bearing failure, I ordered a set of modified Samrat rockers. When they arrived, I found that I had 2 exhaust rockers and no inlet. I informed our hosts who sent me a inlet rocker the next day. You can't get better service than that (Unless anyone knows better. Which I doubt).

I treated myself as a xmas present to the close ratio gear set,5 plate clutch upgrade,19tooth spocket and all seals, bearings and drive chain. Spent the xmas, new year breaks tinkering in the work shop.... couldnt get enough lift on the clutch.. something badly wrong here. Realised my new clutch was short one friction plate and one steel plate...Doh! So used to four plate it didnt register. Called our host who said someone miss counted the plates for the required part number and bagged them up short two plates. Arrived morning post following day....Free of charge of course. If it had taken a few days i may have been miffed but they do try very hard to please. So im not complaining.

Regarding wrohg or faulty parts, there was a story on tv some years ago about a business that needed a large number of switches that were supplied by a Japanese manufacturer. The order specified no more than 2 faulty items per thousand units. When the parts order was delivered the faulty switches were packed separately with a polite note asking why the faulty items were required.

AHHHHHHHHH !! -----SO! Nice one Eddie.I lked that one a lot !!when I was in the "Andrew"--------- "PUSSER"-----------"Grey Funnel Line"----------- There was a story doing the rounds that one of our Frigates had some trouble with the small, domestic services boiler that they carried and radioed ahead to the then Hong Kong docks for a replacement to be ready at the dockside when she arrived. It was early days of computerisation of parts nos. and the good folk at Central Naval Stores in Nottingham processed the request, pulled out all the stops to ensure that a boiler was indeed on the quayside when HMS ?? duly arrived. That's the GOOD NEWS !!!! The BAD NEWS was that, due to a input error a ships MAIN BOILER was proudly standing on the docks.( Probaly a YARROW Y100 3-Drum. look at this }----http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water-tube ... ----------)Ho-Hum !!

Maybe I am slow of understanding some responses to my apparently feeble attempt to give credit where credit is due and say thank you to our host, it certainly was not my intention to invite snide comment....

I don't think snide comment was ever intended. Since we're all different, we praise our hosts differently.

This is just to take my opportunity to say a personal "Thank-you" to ALL at Hitchcocks, for being there and doing what you do... It's one of the major factors that made me come back to the Royal Enfield Marque....Forums like this are notoriously difficult at times to get over the general feeling intended within a posting... I myself recently posted a reply in which "------some sarcasm had been detected" when nothing could have been more further than the truth !...!Quite the opposite in fact as I was agreeing with the sentiments the contributor had previously posted. ( It doesn't matter WHO it was---and I'm NOT telling.). I'm sure none of us deliberately set out to insult or deride our fellow riders ?? Perhaps a second re-read before posting a reply would help avoid this ?? OK, now let's move on and get down to the REAL business of the day ??---------------

But Alan,
I like dropping in a little grenade every now and then so I can sit back and watch the reactions
