Steve if I was wanting to do a 50 mile commute every day, and in all weathers, then I would get something other than an Enfield frankly. Please don't all get offended too quickly. Your Sprint ST is infinitely more capable of such work. If you insist on another commuter then seriously consider something like a CB500. A true work horse and ultra reliable. Cost probably around £1K in good old imperial money. Then use the balance of your budget to get a decent enfield for fun. I think you will get a mountain of fun from "an old style" single and that really is what they are good at.....making you smile. Simply my opinion. Other opinions are freely available and I promise not to be offended if others disagree. I don't know where you are based but if it is within striking distance of leicestershire why don't you come to MadMikes Gathering on Sunday 9th September (Full details elsewhere on this board in one of the yellow boxes) you will undoubtedly meet other Enfield owners and be able to get a balanced view from them as well as establishing if the Enfield is really a commuter. TBH today I was getting a bit peed off using the bullet it was peeing down with rain and just wanted to get home quick

The bullet excels at relaxed fun riding , but tbh my commute is not like this

The bullet is being bullied off the road

Will give things more thought

Steve, remember that with an Electra your boots get drowned because they couldn't afford to fit a decent mudguard to it

The boots are ok as their gortex , the rest of the bike is covered in mud etc , going to have to clean it before returning to shop ....
