Possibilities in decending order....1) Loose cable connections on battery terminals. 2) flat or faulty battery (possible one cell...(check with hydrometer) 3) other wiring on starter circuit have poor connections 4) Starter solenoid fauly 5) Starter motor faulty......To check the wiring use a voltmeter to monitor the voltage at the battery terminals when thumbing the starter. If battery is KNOWN to be good and fully charged, take a note of the voltage...(it will drop quite low due to the high current drain), Then measure the voltage available at the solenoid feed to the starter when operating. Big differences (Much lower readings) will indicate voltage drops somewhere along the wiring or solenoid contacts or connectors.

Hi,All sorted now thanks to Les H, Problem was bad connection of positive lead to battery, not at all obvious , to me anyway, the brass connector had loosend from pos lead, now soldered it did me a favour in one way ,in 5 years of ownership I never could master the kickstarter routine, now i have got it off to a fine art,one kick every time, so now i will use kickstart a lot more. Thanks once more to you Les for your help.please excuse poor grammar,Bob.
