Our beloved bikes may not have the high tec features of Japanese machines but they are definitely safer!! My wife and I went out on the 'other bike' today - a Honda Deauville - and had several near misses from sleepy car drivers. I seldom have this problem with my Bullet because drivers may not see it but they would have to be stone deaf not to hear it! By comparison the Honda is silent. So the Enfield wins on safety grounds!
Might have to try a megaphone on the Honda....

Heh. Heh. I actually overtook a couple of cars today dawdling along on a straight road (doing 40 in a 60). That woke them up!! Mind you when overtaking them i don't know who was more surprised........them or me!!!

Couldn't agree more, I regularly have to ride into London for work and my Electra has a short sport exhaust which is loud to say the least and backfires nicely on the overun if you shut off quickly doesnn't half wake up the dozey cagers in the morning traffic melee though!!

Yup, sports exhausts definitely help with safety...once a jobsworth taxi driver pulled up alongside me and asked "Why is your exhaust so loud?". I replied, "Well, there's a technical answer and a quick answer...which would you like?" The changing lights allowed me to drown his response to the quick answer... :-)
