--------I seem to remember when contracting at the Severn Valley Railway if a cylinder bore was cracked the specialist company called in to do an in-situ repair used a "cold stitch" welding technique. This is inside the bore on a 2-piece cylinder casting in steel. So no pre-heating etc. The alternative was to remove the complete cylinder block from the loco. mainframes---- ??

Mr H does have old pattern barrels for pre 56 bullets in stock for a remarkably reasonable price. When I looked at the cost of re sleaving a worn out one I had I realized that it was far cheaper to have a brand spanker than to get local engineers on the job and this is 12,000 miles away from the supply!

hi chris ,the new forks were for the petrol bike,it needed stanshions and seals ,which if bought home in blighty would have cost more than a new set of complete forks, from the land of enfield £114 inclusive was the cost.
