Hi. this is my first but probably not my last question about my 2008 350 Bullet I purchased the mechine a month ago ,1700 miles but no service history. The oil was dark but not black and so I have changed the oil and filter. Also since purchase i have removed the PAV, changed the exhaust for our hosts 50s style, replaced the air filter and cleaned out the breather catcher. The question is that before the oil change there was no condensation around the dip stick and now there is. Any ideas ? Terry

Hi Terry and welcome aboard. This is a bit of an old chestnut on this forum. For starters do a search on 'mayonaise' in the top right hand search box. Or simply wait for the replies to start flooding in!

not the dreaded mayo,i found some in my inlet rocker cover top that had not been removed for quite some time,i will tell you this!!! remove catch pot put duckbill breather on to pipe from top of oil tank then mayo oil and magnetic particles can all blow onto the left hand side center stand spring have a nice day!!!! p.s be seeing you!!

Welcome to the forum!
I also have a 2008 350 Bullet and have done the same changes as you. (And a few more!!).

I can't comment on why you are only having condensation AFTER the oil change. Generally speaking however, I'm led to believe that condensation in the oil is not usually a problem in itself. (I once asked the same question myself!)

The important thing most people seem to agree on this forum, is that it doesn't harm to change the oil very frequently. (Even every 1000-2000 miles or so).

This is only MY opinion and comment, Terry. One thing I'm sure, is that from time to time, you'll see some very varying answers to the same question.

Hi Terry, not quite sure why condensation has appeared all of a sudden but late Bullets have an odd re-cycling system putting the mayo back into the oil tank. Personally I would remove the whole catchpot system and let the engine breath over the rear chain.

The long and the short of this Terry is that a gallon of petrol under combustion generates a gallon of water. (just to cross thread for one moment Alan R how does that convert to metric? tee hee). Now, if the engine is up to normal running temerature most of this water or even all of it will disappear as steam out of the exhaust pipe. BUT if the engine is not hot enough the water will find itself mixing with the oil or dripping out of the end of the exhaust pipe. At the end of all the debate it's nowt to worry about. Change the oil at the recommended slots and that should be enough. (or thrash the arse off your bike for prolonged periods to get he engine up to temp to burn off the water as steam). But I'd stick to changing the oil ).

This also has the duck-bill aimed at the top of the drive chain. I change my oil AND filter at 2,000 miles using any mainstream 20/50.

Thank for all your observations. What adverse results if I disconnect the return pipe from the catch can, block the pipe and the allow the can to drain ? Terry
