Hi chaps, not posted much here before, but I have been reading the posts for some time. I have seen some relevant information but not for exactly the combination I am planning.

My plan is to put together a hybrid gearbox using the following components:

Redditch inner and outer covers.
Indian main casing.
Indian gear cluster with Mr. H's close ratio gear set.
Mr. H's sealed bearings.
Indian everything else, taken from a 2006 donor gearbox.

I know that Indian and UK inner and outer covers don't quite line up, but I think the UK inner cover joint with the Indian main case is the same shape?
Is this going to work? I don't mind doing a little bit of drilling/reshaping etc.

Good point Chris, I could, I suppose I am being a little penny-pinching........ I just want to use, as much as possible, parts that I have already to conserve funds, if I can!

To add, I intend doing the work to an Indian gearbox that is currently in use, stripping it right down still in situ, using a different shell would of course mean engine out etc, something I am hoping to avoid.

Unfortunately I don't know if the Albion inner and Chennai shell fit. I have an Albion outer cover only on my Indian box, everything lines up and works well but there's a 2ml step as the Albion cover is fractionally smaller on the top and right hand side. It has eliminated flexing though as the Albion outer is completely solid.

If you already have the UK outers buy an Indian gearbox gasket and see if it lines up with them. Alternatively email our hosts and ask if the UK gasket and the Indian gasket are the same.

Great I'll do just that. I'll be needing a gasket anyway to put it all together so I'll get that one item ordered first.

Thanks for the tip John.

Thanks for that about the mixed covers working Chris, so it does look like it's going to work as well this is looking like a workable thing. I'll just confirm with the gasket, as indeed the covers are sitting here now, then I'll be able to go ahead. Looking at the two covers side by side, they are made by such different techniques, quite interesting to see.
