M1ks get some aerostart or similar squirt it in through the carby and kick the crap out of it. When it gives a puff it often resets the valve or decomp whatever has a bit of carbon caught under it and then compression usually returns. Before stripping down make sure there is no chance of a tappet holding a valve the slightest. The only other way to check is by doing a leakdown test and that will tell you where the compression is going, out through either valve, decomp,or rings.

Norm, tried your suggestion on an offchance.still the same, started stripping it, rockers off and retried still the same, it's currently stripped and the head, barrel, piston etc are sitting on the bench awaiting attention, it wasn't the rings re-aligning but overall tis no good, will post up details with pics tomorrow.

M1ks,
Only 4 places you can loose compression, inlet valve, exhaust valve, decomp valve or rings. Firstly tip the head upside down fill it with kero and see if it leaks anywhere

Trust me norm, it's not the head, Gra, you're on the right lines and I did think a holed piston but know i've been running a good mixture, see my new post, (once i've typed it and posted it with pics, lets just say i'm kicking myself a bit)
