I am with Midge & A L Eddie.. I have in my tool box a laminated card with AA membership & phone number on it, and always cary my mobile.. why would you want to carry a full set of spanners???

I only carry a spare clutch cable. The standard factory issue tool kit. Spare spark plugs and a box of matches. If I can't fix the bike by the roadside, I'd disconnect the fuel pipe, dowse the bike with petrol and use the matches to set fire to it. Then I'd claim on the insurance. Sorted.

Standard factory tool kit, spark plug, tape, cable ties, small LED torch....for show....and AA card and phone, whatever happens! I may add the matches though, always offers another option.....

Doesn't everyone clean their hands with jam? This might be what I've been doing wrong all these years.

I carry much the same as Bertie spannerwise except as well as metric I carry imperial too. I take points, condenser, fuse, plug, puncture outfit, tyre levers, pump, bulbs, tape, cable ties, epoxy metal,a small selection of nuts, bolts and washers, wire and cables. I have a couple of pairs of surgical gloves in preference to hand cleaner. On long trips I take a tube and a tiny compressor,an LED inspection lamp I made from a Landrover marker lamp, both of which which I can plug into the BMW plug socket I have fitted. All my other bikes are similarly equipped. I'm sure most will think this is over the top(probably correctly) especially as my insurance includes recovery. Happily I very rarely have to use the kit though on a couple of occaisions riders I have stopped to assist thought my kit very useful.

Well like I said I've never found jam much good BUT what I would say is Robertson's is NO BETTER than Aldi's. Aldi - like brands but cheaper.....

Aldi jam rather than Robertson's, golly, you'll be suggesting taking afternoon tea without doilies under the cakes next.

Why is Bertie telling us about his tools?Surely he must have been on another adventure by now?

I tow a spare Bullet behind me. It gives me all the room I need to carry tools, and a full set of spares. My mobile phone has a miniaturised copy of the Snidal Bullet Manual.

Then I wake up, and check that I've got a credit card and the phone number of the breakdown service.

I'm shocked, I thought "Bulleteers" where a practical DIY bunch that would prefer to do their own repairs, sure I have breakdown cover that covers my car and bikes, but I wouldn't dream of letting a road side mechanic get his mits on Bertie, unless it's too serious sort out on the road and has to be van'ed home, besides why ruin a ride out if you can correct the fault and carry on riding.....regarding washing in jam, not sure what to say except don't do it near an ants nest !
