Sorry to Bore You All Again with a AVL Question!

As The Electra is Based on the AVL, And On Mine The Engine Breather Leaves Centre of Rear Crankcase and up to a little Filter? Catch Pot be hind the Battery.

Can this Breather on an Electra Be replaced with a Simple Duck Bill etc.....

Thanks For any advice cheers Craig

I got rid of the standard set up on my Electra by blanking off the breather on the inner timing side and running the other two to the rear chain, the main one with a duck bill from our hosts. It's not an ideal set up as i get a small amount of gunge dripping under the crankcase.I'm sure other more knowledgeable people will have a better solution than this. The is the Bunn breather which is made for other models but it seems hard to get hold of and very expensive for what it is.

Thanks Martin....

Do's The Bun Need any attention as the rest of the System has Been Dumped By Previous owner.
Or Just Leave it to Breath too?

hi guys ,2 of our members have tried things with electra breathers both with the result that after a few hours hard riding ,oil was blown all over the rear tyres can,t remember their exact set ups but the guys were noel & mikel who both post on here from time to time maybe 1 of them will pick up on your thread to offer good advice ,while on the subject i had in my custody a watsonian breather kit for the avl engine but i was not sure if it was all there so i used it for various other tasks the catch pot was large, that was used for a silencer on the diesel for the big knock rally ,the long dipstick was a trophy for one of our members who lost all the oil out of his crusader sport, happy days

Craig,
Don't waste you money on the Bunn. As you have nothing there you can run a clear plastic tube out the back near the number plate, can put a small check valve in the line if you want. I also attatched a small drink bottle to the end of the hose so that I could see exactly how much oil was being carried over.I removed it once I knew what was happening.

Craig Been there and done some also come up with some theories .Have you binned the Pav coz this is what I did before the problem. If so make sure you retain the vac or inlet side to the catch pot (which incidentally has a duckbill in it). How much mileage do you do because low miles builds up the gunge. Last but not least what oil do you use I have switched to old fashioned 20 50 because the thinner stuff as recommended has a habit of not only collecting mayo because it is meant to run hotter but also building up presssure with the above mentioned mayo then blowing the shit plus the bulk of itself out of the breather . Last 3 k miles on 20 50 and riding perhaps a little harder than I should but also many trips of under 3 miles intersperced with rides of 300 miles and no probs.

Hi Noel,
....The Bike is an Indian Home Market Model...With Much changed (or Never there),,,itsa a 2005 Machismo with the 350 Ks 5peed AVL Engine.....No Viz Pipes or Redundant equipment . Other Than A Central Breather From the Crank Case at the Back of The Engine,..With a Black Pipe up and behind the Battery Bok Ending in a Round Small (And Hard to get To Box) Be hind the L/H Tool Box.................
..Q: So IF this is a Breather Can it Be Duck Billed Straight to Chain??,,,Or Do's this Hard to Get at Round Tub Need Emptying Or Draing? (Screw underneath)...Thanks for Any Help Craig

Sorry to be tardy in my reply I binned the catchpot and found the engine was dumping its contents when ridden shall we say vigorously so put back the catchpot with the feed from the crank and also put back the pipe to the air filter housing to retain negative pressure and hey presto and touch wood no probs since
