Alan, have a look at page 135 of the Accessory Catalogue Online (from the left sidebar). there is a guide to decoding the number there.

Thanks for that MARK---------it's either a 1982/1992/2002 - BULLET - 500cc - from JULY of the year........ It's a scrap bottom end I've just dismantled for spares and wondered what it's history might be...(Doubt if it's the 2002 version.)

As Mark M says,page 135 in the bible.2= 1982or1992or2002.B=Bullet.5=500cc.1755 is the engine number.G= July.
