hi stainless,i like your style,i must say that i have been known to use e bay and indian suppliers i have just bought a genuine brand new pair of forks for a bullet for £114.00 inc postage ,but a big end for a real bullet there can only be 1 supplier and your on his web site ,order 1 you,ll not be dissapointed (hopefully)while on the subject of ebay i notice a bolt on rigid rear end similar to mr h,s has turned up looks very similar but in red lead paint,i just wonder if its from the same source ?happy days g12

Grunda, the rigid rear end supplied by Hitchcock's is UK made. I happen to know they looked at an Indian supplier and rejected on quality! Back to big ends, I wonder if we'll hear from Stainless again? Poor bloke has probably sold his Bullet with his ears burning but hopefully he'll be man enough to come back. One good reason, I'm rebuilding a 1955 350 right now (see The Royal Enfield magazine for articles,) so would be interested to compare notes!

Norm.....Is it really worth comparing a £1200 crank to a ten quid bush?......message to "stainless" I hope the sharp rebukes you've got won't stop you posting on here in future...I think your question was sensible enough....nothing wrong in asking...all you wanted was a polite reply. Les,
I'm not really comparing a 1200 quid crank to a 10 quid bush, just stating it is easier in the long run to fit good bits inside the motor, what you stick on the outside doesn't matter that much if it fails, but pulling the motor out and rebuilding it because of cheap parts isn't my idea of entertainment. The cost of good parts is long forgotten if you have trouble free riding. The cost of cheap parts will haunt you. Just ask anybody who has rebuilt a motor then it fails again, then they decide they will never use cheap parts again if they can afford it. That said the longstroke crank is a beautifull thing

Hello everyone,
Well that certainly stirred up a hornets nest didn't it.Guess it was a bit cheeky!Should point out I've been a loyal customer of our hosts for spares for my other Enfields for a number of years now.Question was posed out of curiosity more than anything else but I take all your points on board.

hi mark ,the rigid rear end on ebay is exactly the same as hitchcocks, except for colour ,i also saw it in black sourced from india on another forum ,but you had to buy a quantity of 20,if our host could proove beyond resonable doubt that their product is uk made i,b be pleasently suprised ,i have seen other rigid rear end conversions from india that look nothing like the 1 in question ,i,m not trying to stir up another hornets nest either before anybody slips to the wrong conclusion as they do from time to time,i did notice that in mr h,s catalogue he states it needs repainting ,usually a statement attached to parts of indian origin also at the price i would like it ready to fit as i,m into the idea of doing a rigid conversion to be different and have posted a few times on this topic ,cheers paul.

Paul, I could be wrong but I'm sure I had this conversation with the boys at Hitchcock's ages ago. It is of course possible that they sorted the problems out and they are in fact Indian made. Knowing Allan's commitment to a quality product (and guessing at the possible insurance implications!) I think I'd want it to be made in the UK! Why not ask? Also to Les: I too was polite to Stainless but gently pointed out the etiquette of posting re cheap products... I hope you didn't think I was rude!

Hi Paul, just took another read of your post and it was all fair comment, actually "stainless" has taken them all in good spirit, so maybe it was just the way I read the comments ....I thought at first they seemed a little too scolding...but second time around, not quite as bad, On the first reading of them I had come straight from another thread which is currently getting all steamed up unnecessarilly and it some of that angry tone seemed to coming across again on this one....ATB.
