Hi guys }----- just a follow-up to 2 recent postings A}------Last week the clutch cable broke on my mates Suzuki Super 6 ( the evening before a long ride into Wales for Fish & Chips---that HURT !! )...B }-----Last night, on the way to a local PUB & Bike meet another mate's BSA WD B40 piston crown parted company--- and he's on a biking hols. to Norway soon. Mind you, it had given some 50,000 miles service...so no complaints really.

well alan i don,t believe it either you don,t mean to tell that clutch cables break and shock horror that piston crowns drop off well i,ll be blown ,p.s do you know victor?

Hello Paul---- taking refuge here from your battering about clutch cables ???? OK, come on in---sit down and have a cuppa !!...... Yes, surprising though it may seem but OTHER MAKES of bikes also suffer from these problems. And a JAPANESE one at that !! Scandalous !! I blame the co-alition Govt. and the bloomin OLYMPICS....Now who is this VICTOR ?? I used to race a 440 Victor engined grass-tracker in the 350 class( He-he!!). Maybe it's VICTOR tanker from the RAF ?? ( takes a look outside...) I think you're safe now---- clutch cables have gone home to bed. Ta-ra.

This is a little digression from the subject, but one of our members out here has just written off his Electra, not due to the cable breaking but the crappy designed lever/3 ball assembly broke sending him into the back of a truck. Luckily he is reasonably ok, few bruises but this is the lever assembly that is causing cable breakages in the Electra

Hi Norm. I thought the three ball assembly was a factory upgrade fitted to the late Electras to prevent the cable from snapping, and that it was the clutch lever assembly fitted to early Electras which caused the spate of broken cables. Am I wrong? This of course doesn't mean a cable can't break on the updated lever assembly - getting the cable nipple housed just right can be a pain, and if not done correctly may break the cable prematurely.
