Hi All, Just checked my EFI and the gap between the top damper shroud and tyre is exactly 5cm each side, so the wheel is not off set relative to the frame. Get it back to the dealer fast. It sounds more likely that the swinging arms are not parallel hence the distance between the top and bottom fixing of the rear dampers would be different on either side or the swing are bushes are out of alignment. Good luck Trevor CH

Stu...I thought the EFI's were made in India! (I agree with your sentiments though)

Hi Les, I don't have a problem with India and was happy to purchase my two Enfields that were built there.
We have much less to fear from India than we do from China - although I do not agree with Indian call centres for UK businesses. If Jim Patel from 'my local bank' telephones I ring off and call their UK office direct instead.
If we all backlash against Bangalore call centres then the work will come back to the UK and the European economy woes will ease in the long term.
Socks are being made in my home city of Leicester again now - and the price is barely any higher than the PRC. If more manufacturing comes back to Europe then the Euro zone crisis will slowly ease.

I read a comment on another bike club forum, that if you find that you are speaking to a foreign call centre when you contact your bank/credit card company/therapist or whatever, you can insist on speaking to someone in the UK, and you will be transferred.....Apparently, they are legally obliged to offer this service.....Just think how many jobs we could save in this country if we all did this!

I took the bike in to the dealer today for it's first service and explained the problem with the rear wheel alignement. I have to say that they were excellent! (They are the main Harley Davidson dealer in Nantes who also have a passion for Enfields.) One very concerned mechanic took the bike in and measured up the frame etc. The frame is apparently quite twisted and out of alignment, the first time they have ever had a problem like this. We are now in the process of ordering a hand built frame from Royal Enfield, something to do with matching frame numbers, engine numbers, registration etc. The only problem is that it could take anything from five weeks to three months to arrive and be fitted. On the plus side, the bike will be stripped and rebuilt by Harley Davidson mechanics so hopefully any undiscovered niggles will be put right. Just waiting now for confirmation of a courtesy bike for the forseeable future. Who knows, might get a Harley to cruise around on..... Thanks to all for your comments - and the odd rant. Mick.

That is good to know and of course peace of mind for yourself, I would have thought under the circumastances replacing the bike with another for you would have been easier all round, for yourself on the wait time plus time to change everything over and them for the hours of work and lost labour charges.

m1ks, couldn't agree more. I did say that it would be easier and cheaper for them to replace the bike complete but they were adamant that replacing the frame was the best option. That's the French for you, if they can make something complicated they will. But, as I said in a previous post the bike is being stripped down and rebuilt so hopefully any 'outstanding niggles' will be found and fixed. Mick.

ps. Also, the engine runs as sweet as a nut so perhaps it's a good thing not to have to start over with a new one. Mick.
