Wow! Steady on Stinkwheel...You seem to be suffering from the heat! I'm not ARGUING about anything, and certainly not: " Arguing over semantics" what a load of tosh and a totally unfair distortion on my post mate! I was just trying to give a reasonable comprehensive description of the differences one is likely to come across with all the different grades and types of standard non-o ring chain. You said: "530 pitch metric chain such as are fitted to almost all modern Japanese motorcycles is EXACTLY the same size as a 5/8" x 3/8" imperial chain" Unfortunately as demonstrated this is not so and I thought it would be helpful to clarify what is different I never said there were "standards" in width but there ARE different widths. It took me some time to find this information out a little while ago, so I took the time to share it here as I thought it was useful, interesting and helpful to others... So if your going to get all hot and grumpy...Ok have it your way...all chains are exactly the same size....feel better now Stinkwheel?...do you really think I give a damn? No sir....butI reckon you need to cool off a little.
