Cath, if you're talking about an Iridium or Platinum plug, I don't think they're supposed to be re-gappable (if that's a word!) but fit and forget...

The bistarter (or bi-starter) was a rich mixture starting device fitted to Solex carburettors from the 30s through to the 50s or later. In operation it was similar to what we are familiar with on the Micarb except that it had two settings - rich and very rich (in addition to off). Ariel Square Fours had Solexes for some time so may well have had them. Sounds like someone has half recalled the name.

Sorry Bob, but we are talking about a fuel injected EFI. There is a throttle butterfly valve, I guess a bit like a Solex. Manual Bi-Starter is Enfield official title, and I gave the description in an earlier mail. There is no diagram or cross section of the throttle body, so the actual function of the "choke" is a bit of guesswork, until one gets ripped apart and someone can offer a proper explanation.
