Thanks Trevor,
You should try writing articles for sales brouchers. Thanks for that, now it is getting pretty hard to help solve problems here because they keep changing models but keep using the same names

Actually, it was a straight copy from Watson-Squires. I claim no credit.

A bit of devilment on my part, jumping to the Enfield's defence! My only experience of the EFI models was renting a Classic and an Electra EFI last year, and they were both brilliant......and resulted in me buying my Electra X, because that was the newest I could afford. Hopefully that also shows that I realise 4 grand or so is a lot of money to a lot of us....

Took the bike back to the dealer today - they will be fitting a new down pipe at the first service. Apparently the down pipe is 'soldered' (his words, not mine) into the cylinder head and mine has been put in at an angle causing the downpipe to slope upwards where it meets the silencer. Also there is no slotted hole in the rear mounting bracket so this is going to be sorted out as well. Brake pedal adjusted and now at a sensible height. Apart from that the bike is superb, runs like a dream. Thanks for the comments.
Mick.
ps. bikerbill, you can't beat a bit of doom and gloom for instilling confidence...

hi,mad mike glad your thruxton is good ,i met a guy at the big knock rally at the start of june who had a new triumph tiger he was far from impressed ,spoke nipples rusting and exhaust paint flaking and rusting ,took back to his dealers who didn,t want to know he said that he wouldn,t have another,i was surprised because mr bloors triumphs have always been good but maybe it was a friday afternoon model made in the far east ,that aside i,ve worked in bike shops and somethings are wrong from the off, customers who spend loads of money and don,.t look after their investment my advise is this SPEND THE MONEY don,t matter if its £100 or £10,ooo if its new demand that things are to your liking good dealers will go the extra mile that go,s for patern spares too!! atb paul.

Just my experience Mick, many others have had few or no problems. I seem to have got the friday bike. A pity, it's the only time in my long life I have ever bought a brand new vehicle of any sort - and sad to say, I learned a hard and expensive lesson. Had it cost me £1500 I'd have gotten my money's worth. At £4200 I was Royaly had!
That said, it's a handsome looking bike and a real pleasure to ride. Would I trust it to take me on the 200/300 mile weekenders I'd planned - not bloody likely!
Check the wiring by the way. All of it......
