Finally, my Swiss Enfield Owners Club has reawoken and organised a nice ride for Sunday and the weather is forecast sunny and 26C.

Starting on the Swiss side of the German Border, cross the Rhine and then twisty forest road up to Schluchsee in the Black Forest. After skirting round this large lake, we head off for a lunch break in Todtmoos. So quiet you can hear the worms digging. Up and over a small pass at 4,022 ft amSL. Can be quite cold, even in early summer. Finally back to Bad Sachingen, across the border back into Switzerland and home. Approx. 200km, how many RE's do not know yet, but will report with some pictures. Lve hardly gets better. (I shall be on my EFI B5.)

Hi Cath,

My nephew who is in RMC, just back from Afghanistan, got married last weekend in devon. Unit based in Portsmouth I think. Devon is lovely when the sun shines. One of my favourites is Comb Martin. Used to have a great m/c museum near the sea, with an original "Lawrence of Arabia" Brough Superior.

EFI is going back to the dealer on Wednesday for its rattles to be investigated.

A.L.Eddie and I are in the habit of riding over to Combe Martin for a drink in the pub overlooking the beach.A nice spot when its not pissing down.Mind you Eddie doesn't venture forth in the wet stuff.regards Cath

Hi all,

Weather lived fully up to expectations, not a cloud in the sky, topped out at 30C. We made 220km on very twisty forest roads, up and down deep mountain valleys. We were about 15 RE's, sadly mine was the only EFI. Oldest was a real beut c. 1938. A man with wife and daughter riding a bright red machine with Watsonian sidecar to match, plus a teddy and a strap on leather suitcase was one highligh. Other unusual top boxes included a half size milk churn and a F&M picnic basket. Did not understand the milk churn, but he comes from Apenzeller Land, famous for its cheese. No problems mechanically ,except one guy's left front indicator arm snapped off. I got a few photos and I will try to find my sharing site. A great run, topped up tank on the way home - 2.75L/100km = 103Miles/UK Gallon!!

Hi Trevor,glad you had a good run.Had to laugh re F&M picnic basket as I have one on mine.It fits perfectly on the pillion seat of my Classic though I do have to be a bit careful when I swing my leg over!!!! Cath
