I ride my Enfield into the west end of Glasgow every day for work. I sit by the window and look out every time I see a bike pass. I go to the local bike/pub place on Saturadys with my friends on there bikes. In the last year the only other Enfield I have seen is at the sale stand at the bike show in Edinburgh.

Are we really such a rare breed up in scotland?

Please tell me I am wrong!

Dear Vallsmorgan, sorry to hear that you are on your lonesome up there in Glasgow. You should come down to Devon, there are lots of us here. But it is nice to hear from another lady Enfield rider, can't understand why there are not more of us as IMHO the Enfield is an ideal ladies bike(no insult intended to you Macho Butch boys out there!!).Havn't lost any bits off mine yet though have a few stories to tell regarding my early ownership.Hopefully this forum will help you find some Enfield buddies.Cath and "Stan"

Well, i'm a bit further north, just the mainland side of Skye.
I've also yet to get mine running and MOT'd, irritatingly it wasn't as straightforward to polish up for test as I'd hoped, I was wanting it MOT'd this week.
Oh well, but as soon as it's ready and tested i'll be round and about, not sure about Glasgow though unless i'm passing through there on a run south maybe?
Some lovely riding roads up here btw if you ever fancy a run.

You're not quite the only Enfield in Glasgow, but I suspect you might be the only one used regularly for commuting (I think I've seen you go along Great Western Road a few times). I can only remember ever seeing one other in Glasgow, and the nearest one to Glasgow that I know of is in Kirkintilloch. I suspect that any Enfields up here are only used occasionally as a hobby (like mine, which is currently being turned into a sidecar outfit).

Well StuartL it is me who lives in Kirkintilloch! I travel into the westend each day for work. Paisley is not far away at all so now I feel less lonely. I'll look out for you pushing your bike.

Thanks Cath. When I visit my folks in Suffolk I am very spoilt for lovely old bikes to look at going past the local pub. The roads up here are brilliant though! Through the highlands in the sunshine.

Been away on holiday, but now I'm back, I can add my Electra X here near Hamilton to the local tally - I have only commuted on it occasionally as I usually need my car to visit building sites, but I try to do the Scottish bike shows, classic shows (visiting and showing), Knockhill racing events etc. So you may see mine dodging around too.
