I'm about to splash out, (haha), on a pair of the Mitas H-01 front and H-02 rear tyres, (along with tubes and rim tapes of course, i always replace the job lot)
I've seen a decent deal on an Avon SM pair with tubes and tapes, (£150) but they are a bit 'olde worlde' rubber tech wise now, given that I intend this as a fun gentle plodder super dooper performance is unecessary so i thought I'd give these Czech cheapies a bash.
Does anyone run these in this combination on a classic bullet, or even a pair of H-02's front and rear?
All commentary welcome.
I've looked at the available tyres and really want to stick with the classic style road tread pattern so am not interested in the K70's and the like.

Hi Hi, got a pair of H-02s on my C5. They have good straight line stability and don't white line. They are fine in the wet and roll down into a bend and roll back up very nicely. I much prefer them to the road riders fitted originally.

Cheers, shappers.

Thanks, to clarify, you're running a pair of 350-19's front and rear?
Does the c5 have the same size rims as the classic? And the profiles ok for frying use, not too square?
Cheers

I went thro a similar search for alternative tyres recently for my 350 Bullet. The old regulars, Avon roadmasters, ribbed front, square rear jusdidn't cut it any longer, and the bike was not sticking to the road well enough, scooting about and running out on right handers.
I coincidentally, cos this is not a regular purchase for me, happened to pick up copy of Classic Bike, issue 387, April 2012, and there, exclusively for moi was a comparitive tyre article. Anwered my queries all in one go. And will do the same for you I'm sure. I went for the MITAS HO1, FRONT; I was ordering from www.vintagetyres.com and they didn't have 19" rear, so went for the Dunlop K70 rear. FANTASTIC COMBINATION AND RESULT. Sticks to tarmac like on rails. Supreme confidence on cornering. I can't believe I drove the same bike, honestly. SIMPLES!!!

Hi mk1s. It's funny that you consider the Dunlup K70 to be too modern in appearance, surely the Mitas looks nearly idnetical, so are you thinking of the K82 by mistake? I think the K70 looks excellent on the Bullet, their chunky look in many ways looks very old world. Other good tyres with old fashion 19 inch, 100% profile measurements are made by Metzeler. These might not be for you but the ME77 Perfect and ME22,s are both "Universal " tyres with a relatively modern design but still look OK on an old British bike. They are well priced too and are highly rated as good "all rounders".

Apologies, I wasn't very clear on the dunlops, it's not that they're too modern looking, mainly that they're too 'off road chunky' looking for my taste. Where the mitas rear is a little less so and more like the stock Avon am.
The am26 are a good grippy tyre, just far too modern looking.
Vintage tyres currently are best for price but are out of stock of the H-01.
I appreciate thoughts and comments on the alternatives but having looked around I'm currently set on the mitas so really just looking for feedback on those at present.
Factoring in the cost of all the other service items I'm needing at the moment too to make sure everything's up to speed maintenance wise, tyre price is also a factor.
Essentially, what I'm asking is, do they work well, because if they're like riding on plastic, and give horrendous handling I'll splash out the extra in the stock avons. So far it's sounding good though.
Thanks all.

Hi matey !! ---- I'm sure I responded to this in another thread but just to reiterate }--- My friend Tim runs a 1938 Enfield 350 on Mitas tyres and I can personally confirm ( because I ride just behind him---- for the sound , you understand. )that those tyres have not let-go at any time either wet or dry. Remember, this is on solid rear-end & girder forks-- not the most forgiving on tyres !! I wish I knew how to give you some photos--- it certainly "looks" 1930's without compromising on safety. Hope that helps a bit ??

Thanks Alan.
I didn't spot that on the other thread but I'd asked quite a few q's there so apologies for not noticing and mentioning that.
Feel free to email me pics or send a link if they're on a flickr or photobucket account, my email is

Girder forks, like the sound of that, :) maybe a future up(down?)grade.
Does he run same size front and rear? 350 H-02?
