Hi all
Well, measurement of piston and bore on my 2006 Classic 500 has confirmed that it needs a +20 rebore. There was also some scuffing. The (standard) Indian piston was well outside spec (i.e. basically scrap) and is being replaced by a European-made one from our hosts.
I have had the bike since new and run it in carefully. I have never let the oil get to dangerously low levels (or anything approaching that as I am paranoid about oil levels). I have never to my knowledge experienced a seizure. The bike has run well from new, with good compression, no smoke or excessive oil consumption. And all this in just over 6 years and 21,000 miles. Am I just unlucky or is this sort of bore wear known to occur on Bullets? All thoughts are welcome please.
Cheers
