------------- PART TWO !!! JOHN J }---- I used to be self-employed and have been long-term divorced, run a 3-bed semi, plus repair, design & build 5" gauge live steam locomotives. I have a 6-day week with Sunday being a proper rest day/ride the bikes day.Wake up at 07.30 and breakfast. Then each "work" day is divided into 3 x 3hr sessions ie} 09.00 to 12.00 --- lunch and Bargain Hunt ( Sad git ) then 13.00 to 16.00----Evening meal and Television News. Finally, 18.00 to 21.00. This can give you 54 hrs in a nice, comfortable way. These are "guide times" but it works for me. NORM }--- "Smug mode" did come back to bite, but in an obtuse manner. I went to the Monday Pub gathering along with Tim-- the proud owner of a fully re-built 1938 Model G 350 cc.He and our friend Myles have done a really superb job of restoration and Tim likes to use it on a regular, almost daily basis. So Tim and I were on our usual cross-country route to the meeting with me behind (vis vest and indicators) enjoying the "bark" of the 4-stroke single on full song. Suddenly, and without any warning----it spluttered and cut-out. We pulled into the SAME lay-by that Myles B40 valve guide broke up at last month !!. SPOOKY---- A quick look at the plug----ok but no spark so a check at the magneto showed the rotor with points had come loose. Tighten the screw---set the 0.015" gap by eye-ball and put the tools away-------Suddenly, RAIN & HAILSTONES !!!! The bike starts---we push on to the pub. A pint with fish & chips. A clean run home and alls well. PHEW !! MADMIKE---Yes, I agree. Would love to have a Red Hunter---really nice & clean-looking bike apart from that BLOB of cream saddle cover. ALEX}------- That's the idea, matey!! Keep it positive--------life's too short for DOO---OOM an GLOOOOM. Better stop now or LES H will sue me for "Length of posting" copyright --Ho Ho.>>>>>> 1-up and 3-down on the R/H side !! Be seeing you.

Alan,
Just made my taste buds go all funny, beer and fish and chips, we don't often get that out here. I remember on some ride a year or so ago we pulled into a pub and they had fish and chips on that day with gravy. I'll have to try and remember where that pub was but out here it could have been hundreds of miles away because we can ride 300 miles in a day and think nothing of it and we often go off for 3/4 days at a time

AlanR - greetings old bird. I've gotta say I do the minimum maintenance on my 6-year old Classic 500, it's always done what I've asked of it with very few protests. Just hit 20,000 miles, going as well as ever - I know a six year old bike should do that no probs, but we are talking an Indian reincarnation of a 70 year old design...not quite the same as a modern Guzzi...as long as it keeps running I'll ride it. When it doesn't, I'll repair it. Totally different philosophy to the one I applied to my Speed Triple (the one I traded in for the Bullet), but totally different bikes...

Cheers
TimG
