Hmmm. The 2007 (registered 2008) 350 Bullet has made it home after it's eventual collection. After agreeing to buy the after being sent a photo or two from the widow of the previous owner.

Whilst it was all there in the photo's - long silencer, exhaust with PAV connection stuff.....when actually collecting the bike; once it emerged from under the cover in the garage the exhaust pipe and silencer were notorious for their abscence; albeit the PAV plumbing is still there. Apart from that stuff missing it appears all there otherwise...so sort of lucky.

Somewhat luckily (maybe?) when collecting the bike from the widow, she found in the back of the garage the bike was in all wrapped up in a cupboard a 'short silencer' BES193A (Brituro make I think) which has been repatriated along with the bike.....The widow wasnt sure sure if her late partner had modified or changed the exhaust at some point but did recall a neighbour helping clear some stuff away and did recall some metal tubesbits being skipped that were found in the corner of the shed, in the lawnmowers way, when having a clear out. Methinks that the original silencer and exhaust are now occupying a space in some landfill site somwehere or have been remade into a teapot or suchlike!

So I now have an Enfield and a silencer (which I think was an accessory when it was new). Was this the 'sports' silencer that was often fitted when new?....but as a bike is missing an exhaust clamp and mounting plate for the silencer and the exhaust to which exists the engine. Hmmmm, buying from a photo it seems is sometimes more of a chellenge than expected; still the rest of the bike does look good and the engine turns over and otherwise seems fine....

I seem to recall there was a downpipe that used to be sold I think in the Royal Enfield accessory brochure in the late 2000's the details were "...Part No. 143696: 350 Down-pipe – Fits all 350s but has expanded end to fit all 500 silencers ..." - research so far hasn't turned up a replacement or a spare that can be used, hence the post here!

I have written to the 'hosts' to see if any of their wares will work with the 350 and silencer I now have; but wondered if anyone else has replaced or had to find an exhaust to mate to the 'sports' silencer (rather than the other way round) or indeed changed an exhaust with PAV fittings for use with the 'sports' silencer...and can maybe point me in that direction. So I can get this Bullet back on the road...once it's stopped raining too :-)?

I had a look on the Briteuro website and there are stock numbers that agree with the item you have. You could just buy the appropriate matching pipe to go with it? Sadly their site does not have any illustrations so you'll need to call them. (and apologies to our Hosts!)

will try Brituro on a weekday. As for the indian exhaust is this (for the 350) like the one in the accesory brochure from around 2007 that seems to have been advertised as "....143696: 350 Down-pipe – Fits all 350s but has expanded end to fit all 500 silencers..."? I wonder. M

Sod it this bit did not come out. If you measure your silencer I think its the same size as the 500 silencer on the pipe side as both parts are advertised on site above so you will need the one with the expanded end.

I bought my first RE off an auction site in a momentary rush of blood to the head. I was, when I finally got it home and apart, one of the most evenly shagged pieces of mechanical equipment it has ever been my misfortune to purchase. Eight or nine years later and with the trade between Auckland and Solihull making an unprecedented leap it is now a very nice and very original example of an early 50's Bullet. If my wife hadn't tried to put her foot down in the beginning when I suggested getting back into bikes though I could have saved myself a mountain of work and a heap of never to recouped cash! I concur never buy from a picture!

At least with the Eclipse Motorcycles website, it's not possible to buy having only seen a picture. They have pictures, but where are the prices? Perhaps their website was built by out-of-synch-ordia..........
