Hi Les H. Back with a vengeance. I think Mr H's IT specialist has disabled lot of the clever features, to help or deter Alan R. Anyway, great advice

Mickey,
I've heard of people putting batteries in the freezer over the winter to preserve them.

Hi Pete. My Harley mate in northern Alberta says the battery suppliers there recommend 'cold' storage to prolong battery life & I guess a fully charged battery would not freeze at normal domestic freezer temp. so maybe would be fine in a freezer - though I don't think I'll try it myself! Batteries on ski-mobiles must last forever!!! REgards, Mick.

Hi guys---(Now-now TREVORCH, At least I'm sticking rigidly to the subject matter). Just two quick observations}--- a)Thanks to LesH's posting SINCORDIA now know for sure the recent listing rejections were not of a time lock-out basis. b) No one has mentioned our old friend the HYDROMETER----or am I just out of date? (again ! ). I'm NOT going to stray from the line---I'm NOT,I'm NOT, I'm NOT---- Did you know------------------------------ ??

Pete F is correct about the battery's ah rating - it should be 14.

I renewed the battery on my own 2002 500ES a year ago; this was the original Indian battery and I thought it just HAD to break down soon.........
Before replacing it I had checked it regularly but NEVER charged it off the bike; on one occasion soon after buying the bike, it unfortunately stood outside through a UK winter, but 5 months or so later still started first kick (didn't bother to try the electric start).

I've kept this battery as a spare since last year, charging it just a couple of times; it still shows an apparent better state of health than another, good quality battery I bought brand new just a couple of years ago and have regularly trickle-charged.

My own MO for batteries is to charge ONLY when unavoidable, but otherwise do all the regular maintenance required - works for me..........
