I think the sound is subjective, I'm sure what we hear when riding is totally different to what a pedestrian senses. I love the thud-thud of a single cylinder but when it upsets others it gives us all a bad name. Enfields can be made to sound good without over doing it and I agree that the after market systems are just too much without baffling.
