Hi, everyone, just a thought, on my Crusader, when you tighten the rear wheel,it seems to really lock the wheel as though the swing arm is tightend and pulled in.any thoughts??????

Nellie, your question isn't clear. Have a read of it and post again with a simple explanation of the problem!

I had have had this with a couple of Jap bikes and it was caused by the wrong or missing rear wheel spindle spacer.

I agree with Martin B - you appear to have a spacer missing. Check to garage floor!

Just a Thought!,
On Most (INDIA) Bullets I Have Had it was Possible to Vastly Over tighten the Rear Spindle & Wheel!

Try Just Tightening Enough So Wheel Spins but Nuts are Firm,
Make sure You Have a Castle Nut or Lock washer and take her for a test Ride and see,

A Lose Swing Arm Did Add to my Problems Once But Just Needed Nipping Up.

Cheers..Craig

I understand now! Couldn't see what the swingarm had to do with it! Just a word of warning, there should be a spacer between the inside of the speedo drive box and the hub, this often goes missing. I've never found that overtightening the spindle nuts stops the wheel spinning so I don't think it's a good sign if you have to slacken it off!

I'm with Mark, something isn't right if you have to slacken the nut. The shaft pulls up against the bearings not against the wheel so should have no effect on the wheel.

i think i,m right in saying there should be a washer behind the brake stay nut if this is missing or worn it will pull the plate out of square and make the brake bind ,try tightening the wheel as you normally would and slackening the brake stay nut
