Just a few words on the popular topic of insurance for my 2002 500 Classic Bullet.  I recently received my renewal note from Footman James only to find they hiked the premium by over 33% = not acceptable in my book.  I read on previous postings about Peter James, so gave them a go and they managed to insure my Bullet for the same premium as I paid last time with FJ.  Guess what, I saved myself the money and switched.  You might ike to have a loook around as well, just don't take what they send you at renewal time.

All insurance companies do the same whether house, car or bike, they rely on a lot of people just renewing without looking.

I bet if you had contacted them with your lower quote they would have matched or bettered it.

Yes, I contacted FJ and they lowered it by £20, but still not good enough, especially considering my driving and riding history, ie. no no-fault claims, no points on licence etc etc. in fact nothing at all on the bike which for the vast majority of the time of the entire year is in my garage.  Profiteering me thinks and the respecatbale paying for all the louts who do not insure.

All insurance companies are quite without scruples when it comes to raising premiums. A threat to take your business elswhere usually does the trick, but if they won't budge then go somewhere else and get the "New Business Discount" (Gocompare is very useful)

They don't understand the concept of loyalty - those days are gone.

I had a 50% increase on the car insurance with Direct Line this year. I rang them and said "Can you explain this 50% increase please?" That ALL I had to say to magically have a premium that was within a fiver of last year.

They'll do it again next year I have no doubt.

Hi, I've been with Footman James for 7 years and the first year I had a bad accident ,the bike was written off and I got a very good price for my written off bike and a very good cheque for personal damages  so I've felt a bit of loyalty towards them. However since they have been taken over it is waning. They should not charge £1-50 for processing a debit card.(Company policy, she said)I've just changed my 3year old  Classic for a new Classic Efi. Cost me £57+ ,this includes £1-50 debit card processing charge and £20 admin fee. I told them they were extortionate but I'm in the middle of my present policy so I'll keep them till the end of this policy  Since then I've been on the net and shopped around. Lowest price was £83+, even the AA was circa £92 So at the end of this policy I shall be declining there offer of renewal. I did ask for a "Key Facts " sheet but true to form the paper work arrived this morning without the fact sheet. As Pete F said nobody appreciates loyalty nowadays.                     Ride safe JohnH
