I have asked this question before but things are getting a bit desperate . Can anyone give me a sample of the Chinese Red used on Enfields in the late fifties and early sixties? This colour was used on the Furys in 1960. Does anyone know the manufactures number for this colour? Does anyone have a sample I can have analysed? I want to paint the tank of my 1958 Indian Westerner and I want it to be Chinese Red as used on some of the Indian models of the time.

Contact RSBikePaint. Very good products and service. Discussion of the "Chinese Red" question on other sites suggests it is probably known in the UK as Post Office Red aka Signal Red and still a British Standard colour BUT the American distributors were a bit loose in their advertising descriptions and may have applied the term to other colours.
Good luck!

RS Bike Paints are the people you need. Beware of BS colours and RAL colors. They have little or no relevance to automotive and motorcycle paint colours particularly in the 50's and 60's. Incidentally if you pick a paint to match an old picture or brochure then where is the "expert" who can say it is wrong......if there was such an expert then he would have to have a b****y good memory. Paint it and be damned.

Hello there ROLF--- my mate TIM has just bought a Kawasaki Drifter in Red and Black. Have a look at the red--- it might match what you want and will have a paint code to follow-up on. Take a look at this }--------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wAOK8oQxFU --------------
