   From what I can find 1955 seems the cutoff for the mag/dyno, but I guess they could have continued production into early 1956  with the introduction of the alternator .Did they continue with a mag or go straight to coil ingition? Can't say I have ever heard of anything like it but bizare things were done like the Super Meteor, SR2, K2F and also coil. Even though I have heard that only 1002 Super Meteors were produced they were built over many years and they probably used bits that were being fitted to the Connie at the same time. I might have it all wrong just the same.  Our main issue with the Club reg is the Indian Enfields, trying to identify what is eligible and what isn't. As 25 years is now eligible  how do we identify a 1988 Bullet from a 2000 Bullet. Once they hit left shift we know that isn't eligible yet, and 5 speed, and E/S don't rate, but we still have people wanting to fudge them onto our red plate system because it is the best in the world.

Norm its worth contacting the REOC. Some in-roads have been made into understanding the early Indian dating system and I'm sure they can help.

I believe the 56 and 57 models had an alternator and an SR1 mag hence the bulge in the timing case for the auto advance mechanism. The SR1 fits beautifully even to this day on the modern classic motors and the auto advance whilst a pricey bit of kit fits inside the bulge like a good'n. After 57 they went battery and coil and never went back.
