Hi Solely. Congratulations on the Enfield.
Alan seems to have you pretty covered on your rear light situation. And as for the starting. . he he! I have spent many miles with a host of Indian made Bullets from various decades. They all had their own querks.
Hemant gave you good instructions on the Official starting method. Although I only ever give one priming kick before finding top dead center with the decomp lever. (not that i am right over Hemant)
I will add that I have only ever used the choke for the first kick on very very cold mornings. Other than that, it seems to flood every bike I've used. Also, if your 8 kicks in and it still isn't starting, turn the fuel off and try a few more kicks. Again this seems to have worked for me when she's being stuborn. JUST REMEMBER to turn the fuel back on or you'll be trying to start her again 2mins down the road
I remember the first time I was sat in a sweat, unable to start my bike, but it quickly gets easier so don't dispare.
Andy has Kindly offered his help/advice and I am sure that can be of great help to you. I wish I had had someone to give me a few pointers when I first sat my non-mechanic arse in the seat of an enfield.
