So yesterday the 350 electrics threw out the dummy - nothing worked - ignition, lights, horn - nothing. So out with the test meter and checked the battery voltage first - fine. While the cover was off I checked continuity to earth - fine. Next checked fuses - fine. Next into the rats nest inside the headlamp checking ignition switch - 12v at the switch!!!! but nothing when the swith was on. Spent almost an hour trying to figure it out and finally went back to the battery for a better look. Earth connection was slightly loose and corroded which was the problem. Thing is, the (cheap) test meter showed continuity to earth, and voltage at various places, but when the connection was asked to carry any sort of current (like switching lights on) it failed to earth at all. New one on me. I suppose a better test meter would have shown a resistance to earth caused by the corrosion. Anyway, all alright now and "a day without learning is a day wasted" as my dad used to say.
