Mrh

I am surprised you got a 20% increase in power just by getting the fuelling right, I thought around 5% or maybe 10 % max, buy heyho I don't doubt your word.
Did the Dyno center supply the power commander or did you buy it from hitchcocks ?

Checked on line for a approved power commander dealer in my area and they all have the rolling road facility and got them to order and fit .they do give you a before and after power curve diagram maybe the 20%was a bit far feached but the difference was so good when I i got the bike back home I had to ring the guy and thank him this was 3years ago and I have not had any problems since also have covered about 8000 miles regards mr h

Greaser hi, if the bike is loosened up - maybe over 2000 miles the simplest and quickest thing to do is buy four things from Hitchcocks – the new silencer, the power commander V, the air filter and maybe an iridium plug. And then if you're not confident get someone else to fit it all. All very simple to do. The Power Commander will come ready mapped to suit the setup and you shouldn't need to tune it up on a rolling road – Hitchcocks have done that already. And I'm going to go down exactly the same route with my Continental GT, with a couple of extra things; Dynojet do an extra module called Auto tune which will allow me to play around with the fuel-air ratio – if you don't have this fitted you have to get the Power Commander mapped at a Dyno Tune centre. But as I say you shouldn't need to. I'll also take the head off and clean up the ports and possibly change the valves. I'll let you know how it goes... as to the guy who said get a faster bike - I think that's probably missing the point – which is to make a very good bike better. Even with these changes I expect it won't be that much faster - it will feel sharper though. The real test will be whether it will pull a 19 tooth gearbox sprocket.

Hi StephenR

Thanks for the post I have already done the Motad Can & the Iridium plug + I use the highest octane fuel I can find[shell vpower] The difference I find now is theres much less vibration at higher revs, & the sound is good which makes it feel a tad faster, but like you I want to get more out of it, I am not sure that just adding a power commander will give much more. I think Hitchcocks are eventually doing some "head" improvements also.
Talking of the front sprocket is the standard a 19T ?
I do think the gearing is a quite high.
keep intouch.

Shame how people just shrug-off the best weapon the owner/rider ever had to influence the factory regarding poor design and low quality ie}-- The Warranty............. Also, just how strong is the standard Big End on these UCE items ?? Plus, have we any feed-back regarding the piston and its' possible attempts to break free at all ??...............Just asking, that's all....

Greaser hi, yes, I'm using an iridium plug and the higher octane Shell petrol. I haven't fitted the new silencer yet – actually what I'm going to do is get a Power Commander from Power Commander themselves but also the Autotune – which means being able to play around with the fuel air ratio, as I said. But it does mean putting in a Wideband sensor M18 – the current one is an M12. So there will be a bit of fabrication to do. I do think it runs smoother with the Shell V Power fuel but strictly speaking it shouldn't need it. Also, there's just the simple fact that they get better, smoother and more powerful the more miles they do. A lot of the road tests are on very low mileage bikes and in my very long (perhaps too long!) experience of buggering about with motorbikes, sorry owning, riding and improving them, what we used to call big singles get better with age. And, yes I was thinking of a 19 tooth sprocket. I don't actually find it too high geared in fact on my 'test ride" today, which is somehow turned into a 70 mile last round the Cheshire countryside, a couple of times I pulled away in second. Without huge clutch slip. Agreed, not to be recommended but an interesting test nonetheless. What Hitchcock's have said to me is that they are trying to get more performance out of the bike without changing the piston - so we will see what they come up with next. Really the only test is a rolling road and then step by step changes. As for the big end – I don't know. If I would criticise the design the unit construction with a rather measly little filter does seem rather weak. I'm about to change to synthetic oil so we'll see what that does. On the gearing - i think it's a matter of personal preference. I'm quite happy to keep it in third or fourth and use fifth as a bit of an overdrive - that's basically the way it used to run my Velocette. But in standard trim the Enfield isn't up to the 19 tooth I agree. Stephen

Alan R - hi - I really don't think we'll get much improvement via the Warranty. It's really a matter of changing things on the bike and accepting that the importer might not honour the warranty as a result. Though, having spoken to MotoGB, they seem pretty amenable but there will undoubtedly be limits to what they'll accept if the bike has been seriously tuned. As for the piston and big end – I do think we've moved on with Eicher's ownership and investment in the new factory. Eicher are a serious large-scale engineering company in India and they are light years away from the old Enfield regime. But we'll see.... however I think a modest uplift in power to Venom Clubman standards should be well within the capabilities of the standard piston and big end. Stephen

Hi StephenR.

Can I ask why arte you not going for the Hitchcocks P/Commander when its already set up, I am not as familular with the bits & pieces as you are when talking of wideband sensors etc.

I have done 800miles on mine now & it has freed-up a lot already, ive put Putoline 20/50 semi synth' in also, as well as the Iridium plug & the Motad can< >which I would Recommend its far better than the RE sports can, all this mentioned gets rid of a lot of the vibration it had before & it is performing a tad better, I am now waiting for Hichcocks updates & prices on their tuning mods before I do anything else.

If you ever come over to south Yorkshire please call in, I could always find you something on my bikes to play around with & perhaps a run out to Matlock.

Greaser - look on the Power Commander site. But I'd say if you're not comfortable with changing things like the wide band sensor - which means some fettling of the exhaust pipe then just buy the Hitchcock's ready mapped Power Commander. http://www.powercommander.com/downloads ... 017.03.pdf
I'm interested in the Auto tune because it mean I can play with the settings and I like improving motorbikes. I stopped buying modern bikes mostly because they were un-improvable - all you could do was add accessories - which seems a bit pointless to me. Go not show. I'm interested in what you say about the silencer - I've been looking at Supertrapp mufflers because you can alter the back pressure. I've just bought some Motul fully synth so we'll see how it likes that. Ideally we'd meet up and swap bikes at some point.

I didn't read the whole post - yes south yorkshire - I know well, especially Rotherham and Sheffield. I have my own business so I can be free during the week with enough notice. But let me make the mods 1st.
